you are quite the gardener. I like your homemade seed germinator. Could you add specifics on it?

Yes I can.
The first you need a power source of a old computer,a thermostat,a light bulb ,a ceiling fan of a computer too and a big wood box.
The thermostat regulate the temperature that the seed need for start.
The ceiling fan generate heat and the fan scatter it in the box.
The purpose is start the seeds in cold weather and to be early the growing.
I hope you undestand me.My language isn't very good.

Now we are goingto prepare flavored olives.

The first we break the olives whith a stick.

We put it in a plastic bucket with water and salt during three days.After we change the water. So we repeat the process until the olives are not bitter.

Hi all again.
And the finally to flavor the olives with garlic,vinegar,salt,thyme ,oregano and a piece of orange.The olives are ready to eat.So we flavor the olives in andalucía.

Hello again.
Today I have been making extract of nettle for to spray the plants.
This extract is very good for the grow of the plants because it has a lot of nitrate.

I have not ever seen green tomato soup.In this area only eat ripe red tomatoes.How do you do the green tomato soup please?

No. I don't.In this area we don't fry the green tomatoes.only we fry red tomatoes.My wife and me are surprised to hear to it.
There is a film that is called thus(fried green tomatoes),but I have never seen it.

Some people swear by the pink ones -- after the color break from solid green but barely. :wink: I agree! It's wonderful to share different ideas and recipes. :D

My Wife/ Gf she makes 2 green tomatoe dishes & I have to ask her specialy for you, jullio. The first one is Green tomatoe salad made mostly of sprouted greens and herbs. 8)

She is a gypse Woman who can cook but uses only raw foods. I gave her a box of tomatoes and she made 30 dishes maybe all dazzling. She said we have to make more chili sause. so I will ask her.

I read the whole thread and no words to describe but JULIO YOU'RE THE BEST new ideas for my small garden to steal from you if you don't mind so. :P please keep up with good things. In my country (LIBYA) it is very difficult if not immposible to find hierlomm seeds, and I really want to get some of many types to grow in my place. this thread is awsome and pics make it even more attractive. :wink:

With the pink ones I made salad,but when the tomatoes are but reds.
A little olive oil,salt,vinegar and oregano.it is very delicious.

Nice and sunny sunday.I was crushing the plants of peppers yesterday.Later I gave back these to the soil.My philosophy is take you of the soil which you need, and after, you give back her what you don't need.

I really like your seed germination system! I use something similar, but not nearly as temperature controlled as yours is for germinating seeds indoors. I use a glass bottomed aquarium with light bulbs below it to provide a little bit of extra heat. So far it has worked pretty well. :D

In your last photo are you adding the crushed plant material straight into one of your beds?

[This is my first post other than in my introduction thread so I hope I'm putting it in the right spot. :?]

Yes,you are putting it in right spot.
The next month when I'm going to start the seeds Iwill put some pics about the process.
Yes I'm adding the material plant crused straight into my bed and
and while it is going to composting it releases nutrients.

Julio, do you use your olive oil for skin care, for cuts and things, as well as for cooking?
My father spoke fluent Castilian Spanish. He learned Spanish for his career in law.
I don't speak Spanish, but I will try-Feliz Navidad por tu y por su familia !

Thank you very much.I wish you and your family happiness in these celebrations of Christmas too.
The olive oil has several applications,but I only use it for cooking.I cook all the meals with olive oil.The castilian spanish is a very rich language in words and very beautiful.You could learn it someday .

I was harvesting pine cone yesterday.We toasted its in the chimney and after with patience we removed the nuts with a hammer.

That's how you do it? This is wonderful! Your posts involve many plants and harvests that I'm not familiar with.

I'm assuming you have Italian Stone Pine? I've been thinking about planting pine -- edible pine nut species that would survive in my area would be Korean pine or Siberian Pine, I think. Only drawback is that it takes many years for the tree to grow mature enough to bear pine cones. Of course that means I really should make up my mind and buy/plant already! :lol:

Hi applestar The tree pine I have got is stone pine (pinus pinea).In this area is very tipical and in all the Mediterranean coast.
In this area all the people have got some stones pines in his garden.

I believe that already it is hour to begin with the seedbeds of the season spring. I yesterday put seeds of egg plants, peppers and tomatos in the seedgerminator. I will put photos when they germinate

Hi all.Its begin to start approximately to the five days.The temperature is of 30 centigrade degrees.(86 Fahrenheit degrees).With this temperature start all the plants of the spring and summer season.
