Bad luck with corn predator

Does anybody know what is eating my corn and how to stop it?

Squirrel? Racoon? Deer?

Please see the public link to my garden's facebook photo album. The most recent photos are at the end/bottom.

I noticed this also happened to another garden. So far mine has only been attacked on the corners, but I'm definitely concerned. It removes the husk, eats the kernels, and leaves the cob on the stalk!

I've also been having problems with stalks folding over. It could be wind, or perhaps the weight of the beans and pumpkin vines.

Thanks,
Tom Cleland

That would be a raccoon, Tom. You have given a classic description of the damage they do to that crop.

They will sometimes break the stalks, too, as they climb to get at the ears. It depends on the weight/size of the particular animal.

@Soil: Ok, you're welcome to it.

@Kisal: Thanks, I'll try the filament tape defense tomorrow.
