Hello, I was wondering what could be planted now (July 20) till fall in zone 5? I know you can plant lettuce and collards in late summer, but I don't know when. What else can you plant and when?

I'm in zone 4, and I planted peas last week. They can take sub-freezing temperatures. Another good fall crop is radishes. I planted those in the first week of August one year, and they did very well. I've seen radishes covered with six inches of snow and survive without so much as a hiccup.

I planted Brussels Sprouts today (inside) I plan on doing the normal spring crop stuff as well. Lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, radishes, arugula etc.

I think now iis a good time to plant transplants of asparigus. not from seed, either witch way it will still take a couple years to get any food.

I going to plant 3 rows of Blue Lake Bush Beans today where I cut down my Silver Queen corn. I am in zone ? I think maybe 6 I live 30 miles south of Nashville TN. We don't have frost here until about mid Oct. Last year I planted beans the first week of August. If we get frost before beans are ready to pick I cover them with a tarp at night.

Gary, I'm pretty sure you are in zone 7. I'm at the southern edge of zone 6, here in OH. Here's a site where you can look up your zone by zip code.

I tried that one and they said I'm in Zone 7 -- not likely, I've lost too many plants to believe that. Two other USDA Zone by zip sites told me I'm in Zone 6b and Zone 6, respectively. Now I'm in Zone

... actually, I KNOW I can find microclimates in my garden that are Zone 6a~Zone 7.
