Made 15 jars of pickles tonight Here's the results...

Used "old-lady-next-door's pickle" recipe. Here it is:

Thanks for the pics and the inspiration, I'll have to give that recipe a shot! Did you end up using the hot peppers in this batch?

I have jalapenos in my garden. I made 3 stops on my way home from work looking for red chiles. Found some at the last store but they were from Mexico... I decided their carbon footprint wasn't worth what they would offer to the recipe, so I just used the green japs out of my garden they don't really make a "hot" pickle so much as just adds depth of flavor. I only put one jalapeño cut into slices into each jar.

I've only picked about 10 so far, so pickling them isn't in the cards for me yet. Ya gotta love those homemade pickles!

Your "rejects" remind be of a cucumber that grew through the chicken-wire fence and got a crimp in it.

Ha! Nope, most were just hanging from the vines, not even touching the fence. A couple were touching the ground. We have been having spotty weather though. I think that's the reason they look that way. Large rains, then super hot and muggy(102 yesterday.)

they still taste good, just not for pickles:)
