Red fungus

I am trying to figure out what I could possible have that is causing this red fungus to grow in my garden. I've seen it a few times in fdifferent veggie boxes........this morning it was on a whole patch of soil - it is red and I can see the spores on it (short of longer straight) no mushroom top or any such thing - if I touch it it's very mushy........I had it a few days ago on my squash and throughout the day it turned black so I clipped the leaf off. I've recently laid down some additional top soil............

Anyone have any thoughts?

I live near the Hiram walker plant and one person has suggested perhaps a yeast type fungus due to the business but I am just wondering if anyone else has ever come in contact with such a thing?

Thanks for your input!
