Ok roaming around the garden, or should I throw them out into the forest?

Slugs are never good in the garden. Get rid of them, if you can hand pick them even better than using pesticides organic or chemical. If it were me I would squash them or feed them to the birds.
Sand or DE works well as a control method.

I never heard of black slugs and they sound pretty scary, so I looked it up.
Here's an article:

which suggests that they are not as bad a pest as regular slugs. While they do eat some of your garden produce, they also are waste recyclers.

Thanks for the info!
I looked them up as well, and apparently they are indigenous to the Pacific NW and Europe. I just didn't know if they were harmless to the garden or perhaps I should relocate them to a new home

I won't kill them, that's just me.
So off to the forest they go!
Thanks again!

I guess I should have done my research. I stand corrected.
