Too Late For Vegetables?

Hi, I live in the bay area in California. I missed the season for tomatoes and most vegetables. I am wondering what other herbs and vegetables anyone has had success with growing around this time. I have started germinating 12 tomatoes and 12 lettuce plants. about to start on some cilantro.

Let me know what you have had success with around this time of year :) thank you :)

Well San Fransisco has an extremely different climate from Texas! Cool and foggy all the time ... You are in zone 10 as far as hardiness, which just means it never gets very cold there, but it's a strange zone 10, not like places in TX and FL that are also zone 10

Here's a zone 10 planting schedule

https://www.thevegetablegarden.info/resources/planting-schedules/zones-9-10-planting-schedule

But as cynthia always tells people, what you really need is the Sunset Western Garden Book. It will give you specific information for your not-cold, not-hot, not-very sunny coastal climate. There's a new edition out (the eighth I think) which means the older editions are available super cheap from Amazon used books... I've seen it advertised for $.01 plus cost of shipping at times. Or find it in the library.

And here I am...where in the Bay Area are you? Along the East Bay strip (west of the hills), this is prime planting season for fall vegetables.

Out in Walnut Creek and thereabouts, it's still too warm to plant such.

Down in San Jose, same situation: too warm.

In San Francisco: not warm enough yet.

Take a good look at the climate zone maps in Sunset's Western Garden Book to learn which climate zone you're in--there are five or six in the Bay Area, and just taking a stab in the dark based on the USDA zone can lead to many seasons of frustration.
