18 lb Onions

Competition onion growing is interesting. Worlds largest onion is 18 lbs grown by a man in UK. If I could grow 18 lb onions 10 onions will last a whole year. You need to help onions winter over without freezing. I have not read all the information details online yet but if I want to grow extremely large onions I would plant seeds in my garden probably April 20 that is our last frost. Plants will be too small June 21 longest day of the year to bulb. Feed plants lots of nitrogen for a year to grow as many leaves as possible 30+. Then switch fertilizer to grow bulbs about April 1st. I'm not sure when harvest is probably about June 21 or later.

1 slice from an 18 lb onion will make a might large hamburger.
