I started onions from seed a little over 3 months ago. For the last month or so they have been outside, still in their seed starting containers.

They have started forming tiny bulbs - anywhere from the size of a pea to a marble.

I am finally able to start transplanting in the garden. Should I bury the tiny bulbs? Will that make them grow better/worse? Or should I try to leave as is with most of the tiny bulb above the soil? I can't get them to stay upright with the whole bulb above the soil.

Any suggestions? What is the best way?

You can put them deep enough to cover the whole bulb. That really won't be very deep for bulbs of that size. You gotta do that to make them stay put. As the plant grows and the bulbs develop the roots will be at the same depth, but the bulb growth will be mostly above ground.
