Help Please. I have one lone tree in my backyard and I would like to know what the name of it is. Is there a way to post a pic of it in any of the forums?
I figured out how to put a pic on here by myself.IMAGOOBER wrote:Help Please. I have one lone tree in my backyard and I would like to know what the name of it is. Is there a way to post a pic of it in any of the forums?

Nice locally native plant for your home!

Three years, eh? Maybe you should have joined earlier :) Just teasing with you.
I posted a bunch of links to dichotomous tree identification keys over in the trees forum earlier because there are a lot of people out there who can't post photos who seem to be floundering a little bit. The tree you have wouldn't have shown up in anything I posted a link to because it's sort of one you need to be familiar with or one that you'd stumble upon accidentally at a native plant site but lots of common trees show up in those keys and if nothing else, they can help steer people in the right direction so they can learn a little bit more while trying to help themselves if that makes any sense.
I use keys frequently. Just used one to identify a non-native species called Alnus glutinosa 'Imperialis'. Oddball cultivar but it was an attractive tree. I was sent a link to a key that a friend said looked good (couldn't identify what I had) combined with having to go to a key for myself (no images) that made me think it might be a good idea to post some links for all of us. I picked out key sites that provided a visual. I'm a visual person and prefer images when available.
