How to deter wrens?

How do you keep Carolina wrens from nesting in the dumbest places? I hate those things. Right now they want up in the truck. Do you think if I hung brightly colored balloons on the truck it would deter them?
The internet said to spray after-shave, perfume or hairspray in areas. Not sure if that would work.
Help me, please; those things are dumber than rocks.
