Funny, I am plagued by the borers and yet somehow I never manage to spot one of those moths....

They're everywhere! They're everywhere!

I remember back before I gave up growing species prone to the SVB, I would begin seeing them in early June, and even if I waited until mid August to plant something, they would still appear out of nowhere. I think that they live on some native plants, like the pepper maggot flies live on horse nettle, in my area.

That was something I watched for with those bottle gourds, but they apparently don't attract them.
