Accidentally used Mir-Acid instead of Miracle-Gro!

Wed Apr 06, 2016 7:28 pm

Hi!

Because they have the same label out of the box (grrr...), I accidentally used an acidic fertilizer meant for my hydrangea on ALL my other plants! Most of them are babies. These include:

Containers:
-Baby strawberry plants
- Arugula (baby shoots)
-Carrots (seeds, not yet sprouted)
-Summer squash (just popped it's head out of soil today)
-Creeping phlox
-Day Lilies

In ground:
-Salvia (second year, leaves have been around a few weeks)
-Mystery plant that I don't really care about!

Are there any plants listed that I need to ammend to save them? Is all hope and hard work LOST?!

Thanks for your help!

Not a problem unless you went crazy with it. All of those things (and most veggies) prefer a slightly acidic soil, probably in the neighborhood of pH 6 (+ or - .5).

Miracid or miracle grow for acid loving plants has a higher nitrogen and contains micronutrients. Regular miracle grow does not contain micronutrients.

Miracle grow general purpose 24-8-16

Miracid 30-10-10 plus micronutrients.

The only plants that would not like it would be plants that like alkaline conditions like baby's breath. It should not hurt anything if you only use it once and you mixed it right.
Happy gardening in Hawaii. Gardens are where people grow.
