What a fuss!

I heard the blackbirds getting loud, then joined by robins, cardinals and bluejays. Sure enough, Kitty was out in the yard, and they had sent out the alarms! She was in the back and found a way back up through back yard, bluejays most aggressive.

Can you say I'm easily amused!

Birds have an interesting warning system and what's really cool, according to an article I read the past week, is that other species understand the calls. Apparently some warnings can travel a hundred miles per hour from bird to bird across mountains and meadows!

When I had a bird feeder out, there would be dove sentries on the roof and when I filled the feeder they would call the other birds for dinner.

Birds can be aggressive though toward each other as well as towards other predators especially if you get near their nest.
