My neighbour has just given me some tiny hard black seeds (pea size) to plant. I have to scatter them on the soil in sept and let them go. They are self seeding annuals. And they're fabulous.
The foliage looks like a pepper plant when it grows, or basil but leggy and tall. The flowers are all variety of coral shades..pink, orange, yellow, multiple streaks of orange in the pink, yellow in the orange and such. They open in the afternoon, close at night, open again in morning. They blooms are trumpet shaped and they've been in bloom here since early august.
She doesn't know the name, nor do I. She's says they're all over in Florida where her sister lives, near Disney.
I'll post a pic if I remember to take my camera over there..in the meantime any thoughts??

Sounds like a brugmansia or datura, maybe? If they're treated as annuals where you are and perennials in FL, that they may be. Some are night bloomers, vaguely tree or shrubby form. I can't tell the difference between the two, but don't grow them as they're poisonous to animals.

Thank you so much for that..there is actually a post on here from march that discusses them...
I'll have to put the seeds up where the kids can't get them, and tell the neighbour about the seeds. She runs a daycare where my kids go so I'll be making sure she knows about the seeds..
