mind-your-own-business weed or Baby Tears

Please can someone tell me if it is possible to get rid of this darn weed. We have it in our back lawn, our garden borders and even had to dig up the front lawn and borders as it was choking everything. One tiny leaf will become a huge patch within a week. We've tried all sorts of weed killers and they do work but you only need to miss one tiny, tiny leaf and it's all back again. What I can't understand is why the devil do they SELL it in garden centre and not warn how it can destroy whole gardens.
