Broccoli, chickens, urban gardens

This is in-town, single family area, nothing fancy. Neighbor across the street has chickens (5 per city limit), one next to them bees. I just have a run-over yard, bunch of herbs, flowers etc. Today g-son (5) and I brought broccoli to the chicks. Head such as it was cut out, and leaves/roots remaining. We noticed extras on the leaves, that being crawly things. We put the mess in the chickies pen and they were happy campers! Num-nums! Hostess opened the covered area, voila, 2 eggs, gifted to us. LilDan loves eggs, but I don't think he's made the connection. We'll work on that with more leafy gifts to the chickens!

Then there's the neighbor right next to me. Everyone has a neighbor from h.... He takes aversion to any bug, bird, butterfly, weed near his space, including letting regular lawn and shrubs grow out over 2". Sigh.

Just be glad you don't have to live with a HOA.
