How much rain?

What is the average annual rainfall where you are? No matter high or low, seems to come at all or nothing! Memphis is about 55" a year. Even with that, do spot water and water containers 1-2 /week depending for herbs pushing to grow for market.

Huh. If the rainfall was evenly spread out, you'd get the 1" of rain per week recommended for most things. (Of course container plants are different)

In ordinary years (which there may not be much of any more), we get about 40" a year, very evenly distributed through the year, more or less 3+ inches of precipitation a month, every month of the year.

We get an average of 7.3" a year, with nearly 90% of that coming in Dec-Mar. We average almost a full inch, spread out over the next 5-month period! Drip irrigation is my best friend. :hehe:

At the mountain ranch we get 150" of snow some times more. At the high desert ranch 7" of rain.
