Boston Ivy Blues

Greetings All

This is my first post in this group and I NEED HELP !
Last spring , I planted about 20 Boston Ivy plants around my patio pergola.
I weeded ,fertilized and watered and was happy with a growth of about 5' the first year.
This spring after the first winter all the ivy is dead , with just a few new leaves at the very bottom.
Some of these leaves are brown spotted.
I live in southern Michigan.
Someone please tell me what I did wrong ?

Sounds fungal, and without more specific info on care I can't really see where you went wrong. Could just be winter kill in a tough year. Try a vine like Virginia creeper (also a Parthniocissus for a hardy native with good wildlife values and that wont be an issue...
