Calla Lillies

I transplanted Calla Lillies bulbs from an in ground site to a clay pot last season because of some construction. The plants thrived in the pot. The bulbs are starting to sprout now and need to be divided, replanted in the ground or other pots. My question is, can the bulbs be divided now, safely and will this affect the blooming cycle this year.
I live in eastern North Carolina :D

I don't KNOW ABOUT NORTH CAROLINA, BUT WHERE I LIVE, THE BULBS HAVE TO BE TAKEN OUT OF THE GROUND IN THE FALL. THIS IS WHEN I DIVIDE MY BULBS. I WOULDN'T ATTEMPT IT WHEN THEY ARE STARTING TO SPROUT.

I split mine in the Autumn. It now has 11 spathes on it and 3 are already open!
You should be alright as long as it is only just coming into leaf but better to not get the flowers this year than lose the plant because it gets too pot bound and dries out.
