What exactly is Seedum

A friend offered to help me with my landscaping and is willing to share numerous types of seedum. I looked up seedum and it's a yellow ground cover. Is "Seedum" like a club, or does it consist of different types of flowers. Wish she wouldn't have offered...I'm confused.

Sedums are a vast array of hardy succulent ground hugging plants that can have dramatic foliage color & texture contrast. Flowers range from green, yellow , pink, white and rose...

If you have a need for a ground cover in a hot sunny location - you need sedums!

They are great cascading over rocks....

Thank you for your wonderfully detailed description. I am no longer confused (about seedum, that is)?
