Aesthetically pleasing raised garden bed ideas.

Hello... I just built a raised 12' x 4' garden bed out of wood. This was going to be my first garden. I was excited, but when I put the bed out in my back yard to prep, it didn't "fit" the scenery of my backyard or my neighbors nicley manicured landscapes. Not to mention, it was a bit too big. I live in a residential urban neighborhood. So, I sold the bed and am looking to downsize to a 6'x6' or 4' x 6' raised bed. Also, I was wanting to make it our of curved landscape rock or anything of the like to make it "look" better while also serving me the purpose of growing great vegetables! Has anyone built a raised bed out of decorative rock? Any info is appreciated, thanks!

I haven't done rock beds, though I know people who have.

Here's a picture of a couple of mine:

They are made of 4"x4" pine fence posts, stained and varnished and are 4x8' dimensions. I think they are quite attractive and they are 10 years old now and holding up very well, which beds made of boards will not. I redo the varnish stain on the outside every couple years to keep them nice looking.

Awesome, thanks for the response. Would the taining seep into the actual soil at all? I like that look. I am leaning more towards the curved rock though, just because I think it will go with the contour of my backyard better.

No, it is on the outside of a 4" thick post.
