Is this a weed?

Hello,
I recently had a lettuce growing in this hanging basket but once it had finished its run and died when I pulled it out I noticed this growing in there so I left it to see what it would grow like, is it a weed that I should just pull out??

Yup! I don't remember the name of it (maybe Kisal with her weed ID book will come along), but it is a very common weed.

That's what it is! I kept thinking "Purge" and knew it wasn't quite right but was refusing to look it up!
