identifying a large leaf plant

Hi I'm new and need help identifying a plant I saw around Sperryville about 2 weeks ago. It's about 10' high and the leaves on it were from 15-24" ROUND. They were not heart shaped but did have a little indent into where the stemconected to the leaf. Someone said they were a weed. I'm a ceramic artist and they would make a great birdbath or kitty fountain.

Hmmmm, any ideas anyone? I'm drawing a total blank.

Hi Jcpottery,

I wonder if you saw Velvetleaf - Abutilon theophrasti.
