Just wanted to show off the latest hatch of Muscovies. Hard to tell, but it looks like 7 in this clutch.

While my neighbor was over this morning, picking up a flat of duck eggs, this Blue Heron landed in a pine tree. The pine tree is right on the orchard fence line. Looking for duck dinner.

Pepper said, I don't think so. She barked and barked until it flew away.

The first time I raised ducks, about 8 years ago, they came by USPS. The Post Office called and I went down and picked up my box of quacker. The postal clerk handed me the box over the counter, while the whole time, the little guys were peep peep peeping. She wanted to see them, so we cut the banding and opened the box. Oh! They are so cute!... Of coarse everyone in the post office had to see them.
I tried to keep the first ducks in a large plastic tote in the kitchen. I thought they would stay warmer for the first few weeks. That lasted for about 3 days. Ducks are messy little stinkers. I mean phew! and out the door they went.
