ornamental grass
When should I cut back my ornamental grass, think it is called cabana grass, it has a striped green and white leaf, and how far back do I cut it?

Leave it until early spring. As soon as you see the first signs of new green sprouts at the bottom, cut all old stuff down to an inch or two above the soil.
Part of the point of growing ornamental grass is that it adds winter interest to your garden. It may be brownish and dormant, but it still is there and moves with the breezes and can be lovely in a snowy landscape.
