good - rooting medium - propagation - stem cuttings

What is the best(or good) rooting medium for propagation with stem cuttings?
Some use 1) only perlite 100%.
Some use 2) only sand 100%.
Some use 3) only compost 100%.
Some use 4) a mix

And all of them say they have success.

and i would like comments from your experience for each method.
did not and I'm confused.
begginer.
