Hi All!
So I've been thinking about purchasing one of these Tacca chantrieri, the Black Batflowers but was wondering about the coloring of it.. I will show some examples as to what I mean below... but basically they seem to range from a light pinkish maroon color all the way to a dark pitch black color and every shade in between ( at least on all the pictures I've seen of them.) The one I am interested in is the pitch black one. What determines what color it will come out being? here are the varieties I've seen so far while browsing around.

Well, sorry to say it, but the deep chocolate-maroon colour is the most accurate photo of the flower - the others have been retouched to shift that into a "truer" black tone.
It's a tossup, too, whether you'll get that nice chocolate-maroon one, or one of the paler ones. Part of the fun of growing plants, though, I say.

oh ok so its just one plant... its not like its different species colors then...One plant one standard color... Not much variation. Amazing how computer correction can trick the mind into thinking something that isn't actually real. I still really love the uniqueness of the plant though.. I just really loved how this one.. in paticular looks as far as the coloring and the little flowers in the front are. prefer the flowers in the front more then the ball looking things hanging down... as in this photo Thank You so much for your input Lorax your a gem <3
