That is my neighbor’s horse and barn, the fall picture of the road is part of the road to my house. I have been upstate NY as I was from the North Shore of the Boston area. In some ways they are similar, I like up state alot. In the PNW every thing is big and bold, we even have year round snow skiing on Mt. Hood, you can be down in the valleys swimming and looking at snow capped mountains. I took my mom skiing and swimming in the same day, she is from north of Boston.
Thanks all I had a garden in the city of Portland and one back East but I love living out in the country. I am still close enough to drive to Portland with in about an hour.

If you have some small town photos you would like to share feel free to do so here. 8)

Thanks for the pics tomf. The area looks so peaceful, clean, serene and absolutely gorgeous. I am a city girl and if I would of seen that 20 years ago I would of said that's nice but now I would say I would give anything to live in an area like that. Probably little crime, not living on top your neighbors or having there nose in your business. No drag racing down the streets or seeing cops cruse by on a normal basis or hearing sirens at all hours. I love the shots of the trees and the river. Some of them could be post cards. Thanks for the pics. :D

I am happy you enjoyed the photos, a few of us who post here live in the country and you can tell how much we love it.
The neighbors on my road (3 other families) are all very nice I could not ask for better ones and we have plenty of privacy also. Even though I cannot see my neighbor’s houses from mine we are friendlier than the neighbors that were 100 feet away from me in the city. There is a different feel with people in the country one I really like. There is a 20 acre minimum lot size in my neighborhood and half the lots are more than twice that size so it gives one a little room. Plus we are surrounded by forest for miles so some of my neighbors are miles away. It is a bit of work living out but I love it.

That is my wife with the sling on her arm, she got hurt skiing.

Tom I should save your photos in an iPhoto folder and run them as a slide show with some serene music for relaxing moments. Thanks for sharing. :D

My creek runs in to this one and it runs near the land I live on so we walk down to it to swim.

That is a nice place. That appears to be the place I have been looking for now that I am retired. I grew up in a farm in Illinois in a small farming town population of about 5000. Everyone knew everyones busness and we all waved and said HI weather we knew each other or not. About 6th grade I decided I do not want to live here all my life when I grow up I am getting the heck out of this place. I graduated from college, kicked the dust off my feet and never looked back on my way to life in the fast lane. Now that I am retired places like that are exactly where I want to live.
