Pony tail palm rot

I have a pony tail palm that is over 10 feet tall and over 3 feet in diameter at the base. I am just learing about these plants, hopefully not to late. The base has extream root rot to the point that it could disconnect from the base at any time. The top is bright green and looks healty, is there anything that can be done to save this plant? Like I said I could push it over very easly. Thanks.
