Red tips on blades of grass

I have patches of brown grass with red on the tips of the blade. What is it and how to correct the problem.

It's a fungus called Red Thread. Here is a link to an article about it.

The article does state that when infections are severe, that fungicide applications may be necessary and I'm going to advise against using any fungicide. Just to keep it short, fungicides tend to cause way, way,way more problems than they solve.

I would use the other methods described in the article and also give the infected area(s) a weekly dose of compost tea or at the very least spread some non sterilized compost over the areas with a spreader.
