My gazing ball. Ventricosa Aureomarginata hosta, Crimson curls heuchera and Tiger eye sumac, I use rocks that look like they came from the moon to hold my gazing ball.

Goose and raspberries. I no longer have geese, just ducks

So DD Can I ask a question? How do you deal with the trimming's of the raspberry bushes? I cut my berry's back this last winter (they were getting out of hand) and as I do with all my other yard clipping's I tossed it in a pile to be saved for compost but... these were too prickily to be composted.

mrsgreenthumbs,

I either run the canes through my little chipper shredder, or just pile them along the fence line. Pile them out of the way to rot down slowly.

You could use them to keep your future chickens in line. A thorny wattle fence.

I'm piling all my prickly trimmings -- raspberry, blackberry, rose, and holly -- behind the shed where the groundHOG digs underneath to move in for the summer.

I feed them to the goats! Unless they are too dry and brittle, then nothing will eat them, so I put them in the hedgerow towards the highway, to keep stragglers out! ha ha.

Ohhh... that's a great idea! I have neighbors that hop my fence all the stinkin time to get their stupid ball out of my yard. They know if I catch it (they have broken 5 of my young plant's all ready with their ball when they could take it somewhere else rather than tossing it right next to my fence) I'll pop it. I would LOVE to see them get tangled up with bramble that I innocently attached to the tops of my fencing... O:)

I was thinking 4 legged stragglers, but hey, it works either way.

And it sure isn't a rip gut fence!
In old times they used to build fences in such a way, that sharp pointed ends were aimed outwards, then predators couldn't climb the fence.

Roses, raspberries, or even blackberries wouldn't seriously hurt anyone. Although I have tripped and landed right in the blackberry patch, flat out, and every movement hurt. It envolved lots of picking splinters out, but no real damage done. My mama's roses quickly taught us kids to avoid that area when playing!

Mrs Greenthumb, I liked your flower photo that Tomf made for you so well, that I requested an avatar, that is a flower...

He made this one! Thanks Tomf

Then I couldn't load it, thanks Roger!

Why do the yellow and white tulips always bloom before the pinks and reds? Does anyone know? ha ha

Okay, color is wrong, but still it is flowers!

Mallard momma by my front door. She is sitting on 13 eggs. Yesterday I weed whacked around this bed and she didn't move. The mower made her leave for awhile.

Korean Spice Viburnum is in bloom in my garden today. It is the most fragrant plant I have. Plant one by a window you open in the spring and it will scent your whole room.
