Pool area palms - species suggestions for tropical look?

Hi

We want to make our small pool look tropical, so we are planning to plant a selection of palms around the edge. We want to make it into a really cosy and inviting area. Do you have any recommendations for palms (or other plants) that will look really lush, or add interest?

One end of the pool is quite shaded, the middle bit gets afternoon sun, and the other end gets quite intense midday sun. The largest plants must have a height of no more than 2.5m (7.5').

Thanks for you ideas :)

The Elephant Ear is a a nice choice for exotic looks. It has large leafs but doesn't get very tall. The European Fan Palm is also very small.
