Lilly of the Valley conundrum

Lilly of the valley taking over yard. Is there anything we can do about it?
We want grass in the front yard. HELP!!!

You'd have to dig out all the roots as it spreads by underground rhizomes. Any little piece left will grow into a new plant. If it's in your entire front yard, you may have to treat it, kill everything, and put down seed or sod. (If we have a lawn/grass forum, try reposting there.)

Thanks for the info. We dug up a lot of it. Hopefully we will be able to stay on top of it. (there's always the lawnmower, I suppose!)

It's funny - my front yard is about half lily of the valley (I've let it spread over the past 16 years), and I wish it was the whole yard! I love the smell when they bloom.
