Looks to me like a stargazer Lily.

Be careful because the pollen from the anthers will stain any fabric they touch.

And yes again to the staining!

Pollen drop on table cloths or coasters is fatal as is brushing up against them. Pity really because they are otherwise excellent cut flowers.

Martha Stewart just snips the stamens off (she goes on about wearing old clothes and doing it in the shed first) and then makes her arrangements. So it can still be a nice cut flower.

They usually come from the florist already stamen free, but this is a great garden flower that is easy to grow if you can keep the rodents off the bulbs...remember, orientals have scent, asiatics do not...

My mother has a lovely Stargazer in the back yard. It gets to be about 7 feet high the the flowers are huge! I usually take a couple to my organic garden club meeting and we raffle them off. You should see the number of tickets people buy just to get one. (One lady bought so many tickets that I actually ended up giving her one even though she didn't get one in the draw)

An excellent fund raiser.
