gri

fragrant cherry tree flowers

hello.
I am a guy who doesn't have anything to do with gardening, but I've come across this issue in a debate with some friends of mine and I hope you can throw some light in the following matter:
do the cherry tree flowers have a particular and powerful scent or not?

I'm anxiously waiting your expert replies and I thank you in advance for them

It really depends on the cultivar or species; Prunus is a HUGE genus that includes plums and peaches as well as cherries. In my experience the fruiting varieties are more fragrant than the flowering types, but Dirr lists P. cerasifera (Cherry Plum) as "sickeningly fragrant"; again I think it has a lot to do with which one we're talking about. So I am unable to break the deadlock; My final answer is "Depends..." :?
