Soaker Hoses

Clarification may be in order concerning U.S. soaker hoses.

For Mid-west water conservation ~ #1 is rain gardens containing native plants and #2 is using a soaker hose.

The hose I have referred to in previous posts is a type of drip watering since it is made of a black sponge like material, permeated with thousands of tiny holes. The conservation suggestion is to draw a slight indentation into soil, lay down the hose and cover with mulch. One end of the soaker hose is capped off and the other end is connected to a green rubber garden hose attached to a water source. This system directs water to the root level while keeping foliage dry and avoiding runoff and ponding.
