Planting trees

I want to plant trees for the planet, but I don't have the money to buy land and to plant trees, I was thinking of joining a group that is doing this. Do you guys have any idea? :?

You can sponsor an acre of rainforest over at rainforestconcern.org. They're a registered charity in the UK.

You could check out your local boy scouts organization. As a child, and a member of the Beavers, we would go out and plant trees. It's kind of cool to drive by the area where we planted them and see these huge trees decades later.

If you're looking for a more personal touch, you can buy tree seeds at most garden stores. Colorado blue spruce and other evergreens are probably the easiest to find. Start these in a plug tray according directions on the back of the seed package. Nurture and transplant your seedlings until they are big enough to share with local schools or community groups for Earth Day or Arbor Day.

You can grow fruit trees the same way... think Johnny Appleseed. ;o) I have 3 apple trees growing on our front lawn grown from seed.

Have fun!

Dirt cheap way to grow your own apple seedlings is to save the seeds from apples and plant them. Just don't expect to get the same apple from the seed that you planted.

Yep. I can vouch that apple trees grown from apple seeds grow very fast and make lovely trees.

I see you're in PA- I'd just google info about local environmental groups. Too bad you just missed Earth Day a little while back- that was probably a tree-planting frenzy!
