Wisteria clippings, where, when and how

I would like to start a Wisteria bonsai from a full grown vine in my yard. I have received various advice on where to clip from and when. I live in Mass. and would like to clip now and would like to clip near top of vine. Is this okay?

Also, should I put directly into soil or should I foster some roots directly in water first. As you can tell, I'm a neophyte. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

djmals,

If you are asking if you can propagate Wisteria the answer is yes. Probably the surest way to get one or two is to layer them. Softwood cuttings can work as well. A cutting taken from a flowering plant is preferable to seedlings which can take a decade to flower.
