Can I save my Bonsai tree?

My husband bought a Bonsai tree for me back in January from a little Japanese man on the side of the road (he had a big store like tent thing he said). It is a Juniper Bonsai. It has done very well until about the past 3 weeks or so. The needles are browning, and the new buds are no longer filling in. I really do not want to lose my tree. I have fed it this specific liquid stuff that the guy gave us. He said to give it to the tree every 2 months. After the first feed it was fine. Now after the 2nd feed, it has went downhill. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

I will get a picture of the tree and post it in a minute.

sheGT,

Can you please give us some more information? Specifically where are you keeping the tree and what are your watering practices. You do know that your tree belongs outside, right? Although some species can be managed as indoor trees, Juniper is one of the least likely.

I found out it is supposed to be an outside tree AFTER I had been keeping it inside. I do put it outside often, but it stays in our living room as well. I sit it by the south window in our house when it is not outside to catch the sun. I water it about twice week...maybe. I notice when it is dry, and I only water it until it starts running from the bottom (there are holes in the pot) so not to get root rot. I have looked up info about them, but most of what I keep getting is how to trim it and re-pot it and when. Anything else you need to know?

Thanks for the link. I don't know if I am just an idiot or what, but I couldn't find that good of info. Thanks again!

If I start now with keeping the tree outside and following the directions of more involved care, do you think (or can you tell) that the tree can be saved or is it already gone?

One way to check is to slightly scratch the surface layer of the trunk to see if there's any green underneath. If there is green, there's hope - otherwise make arraignments for the nearest compost pile - and save the pot...

Good luck - your tree does look a little gray colored from the pictures - but there is a lot of green too - so it isn't over until it's over..

If I were you, I wouldn't even bring the tree indoors.. unless it's like super cold right now where you live... also give it a misting everyday - conifers seem to like that...

The tree doesn't look too bad. Just keep it outside have some morning sun. Water the tree in the morning and don't fertilize it yet. Wait until it gets stronger then fertilize it. The tree should be fine. don't worry. The wire looks like cutting in a little bit. You may take the wire out later on.

Here is a link for juniper care.

I have yet unfortunatly had the same problems with my bonsai.
It was going great at first but now the needles are starting to fall off and everything is very dry. I have tried very hard to save it but I'm really worried.

GL(good luck)

I just noticed this but make sur your wire that your using to shape the tree isnt choking it.
This could be a major factor(but maybe not also)
