Indoor Lighting Requirements

I am considering growing a single tree indoors as a personal experiment. I want to get a lighting system that is afforable and works. I found a desktop grow light on bonsaiboy but I found a review that said the lightbulb is not a good spectrum. So I want to know what is a good light/color spectrum for a bonsai tree? I'm thinking of a small Tree of a Thousand Stars for my indoor tree. I have some experience with my outdoor trees, but I don't know if growing indoors will be different. There is not a temperature change, so will I need to put it outdoors at different times of the year? What label should I look for in a good grow light as far as watts and lumens are concerned?

If you can grow outside year-round I'm not sure why you would want to go to the trouble and expense of setting up lighting but I'll try to help a bit.

As you may already know conventional incandescent lighting is a poor choice for indoor growing use. Readily available fluorescent tubes are more appropriate, and inexpensive, but there are better choices. In recent years fluorescents have been greatly improved. Here is some basic information.

Don't mean to discourage you, but this tree can be a pain even in the best conditions. A better choice might be a ficus or fukien tea. Not as fussy as Serissa.
