Japanese Red Maple leaves drying up and dying. Help!

I have a Japanese Red Maple bonsai. Have had it three years. Lost leaves over the winter and got beautiful new leaves a few months ago. Now quite a few of the leaves are turning brown and drying up. Can anyone help me?

kllkll,

It's hard to diagnose at a distance but if you post a picture we might be able to offer something.

Your J maple is an out of doors only tree. Describe or photograph your soil, it (your tree) looks to be drowning.

It's just in regular potting soil. I did purchase bonsai soil for another bonsai I had. Do you think I should transplant it into bonsai soil?

Well your red-leaf maple is showing stress by leafing out in mid-summer leaves, with the soil its in now. use your best judgement.
