Indoor Ginseng - leaves slowly but surely dropping off.

Hello,

Had an indoor Ginseng tree (from Costco) for a couple of weeks now - followed watering instructions. Every morning I come down to find one or two leaves have dropped off. Mostly they are green but one or two (that have dropped off) are yellow in colour too. Any ideas please?

Hi ch and welcome;

Not much to go on here. I'd say your tree is still adjusting to it's new environment.
If you could tell me the position of the plant, how you are watering, if your fertilizing, what the soil looks like(does water stand on top or soak right in), how much light the tree gets, and when it started dropping leaves. This would be a big help.

Hi Phil

Thanks for your reply and welcome! Ok, the plant is in a bright position away from draughts and not too near a radiator. It is in my lounge, so no humidity whatsoever. Soil soaks up water - doesnt sit on top. Started dropping leaves about two days after I purchased it. Havent fertilized it yet. In the space of two weeks from purchasing, I watered gently about two days ago.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Have a nice Christmas!

-Hi ch;
I think everything is fine.
Don't over water. let the top 1 inch or so dry a bit. You might want to put a tray of water under it. Keep the pot above the water. Nothing special, just somrthing that has water in it. Don't worry to mudh about leaves falling. It's getting used top its new environment.. If you can use distilled water, ficus are sensitive to water with chlorine and fluoride.

Don't worry and have a happy Christmas.

And please come back and let us know how things are going.

My mother came from Colchester. Anywhere close to you.
