Does anyone have experience in difficult air-layering? I thought this apricot looked like a good possible for a bonsai, but the live area vs the dead wood makes me wonder if an air-layer will even work.
thoughts??
thanks

ttarpcire,
I assume that you are intending to layer at a location with intact bark. Although I have successfully layered Elms, I have had much less luck with other species, particularly fruit trees. I think my biggest problem was rushing the process. It may take more than one season before separation, which always concerned me.but the live area vs the dead wood makes me wonder if an air-layer will even work.
