Help with a Bougainvillea

Hey all,

I bought this very young Bougainvillea (didn't pay much either) and it was blooming at the time.

I am just wondering what I should do with it to get it more "tree shaped".

I do have a few dead branches that need to be pruned, and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Wolfgang270,

Sorry I don't grow this species so I can't help much. Here is a link with a little information.

In general, young material is not potted until you are satisfied with at least the trunk.

I have a boug too, and I think norm is right, You should wait until the trunks is tree looking, by looking on your boug I think you must wait for a year or two. Mine was 7 years before I repotted it on that the same pot like yours, wait for your boug to be rootbound prune the roots and its the good time for you to transfer it to a bonsai pot. You can now trim its leaves/branches to your desirable shape. You must have lots of patience.
