Hi! I'm new to bonsai, I just got a plant yesterday and was hoping I could figure out what kind it was. I also have absolutely no idea how to care for it. It was pretty dry when I got it, so I've watered it, and that's about it...I think it's a miniature bonsai or something??? That's what the label said

There's also some sort of white residue looking stuff on the leaves.

Irisprincess,
Welcome,
They are easy to care for so no worries, Does that pot have a drainage hole? Here is a care sheet:
https://www.bonsai4me.com/SpeciesGuide/Schefflera.html
Do also read the stickys at the top of the forum for more bonsai care tips as well as the articles at this site: https://www.bonsai4me.com/Basics.html
DO read the beginners basics and start working your way down the list there, You will learn much . The research never ends..
Sadly, Getting no info is pretty typical in many cases of store bought bonsai
If you want to see some inspiring bonsai Photos...See here:

I hope this helped,

IrisPrincess,
A while back a woman who had one of these was frequenting the site. Here is the search results on her user name. If you review these threads you should be able to find something out. For instance she was also concerned about spots on her leaves and we determined that they were nothing more ominous than water spots from misting. Here is the link.

Also search on 'Schefflera'.
