Japan maple seeds are dead once dried.

Sorry, you'll have much more luck plucking out volunteer seedlings from under the parent.

No sorry, I did not collect any last fall. In the past I have had pretty good results by keeping them cool and damp all winter. Tom is correct about very poor germination once dried. Beware of seeds offered commercially.
