GRAFTING: Almond onto Cherry

Hello! :)

Does anyone know if my chances are good trying to graft Almond (Prunus x persicoides) branches to Cherry (Prunus avium) root stock?

I have a pot-grown Cherry tree with an excellent nebari, but the leaves give me no inspiration. However, there are some wonderful Almond trees in town with beautiful early blossoms .......

I'm thinking if anything, almonds are closer to apricots....

Well, this particular Almond which is a Prunus x persicoides is actually a cross between a Peach (Prunis persica) and Almond (Prunus dulcis) so .... apricot .... peach .... almond .....

Am I expecting too much by introducing a Cherry rootstock? To be perfectly honest I'm only going by the fact that all of them are Prunus. Not good enough?
