Its called a ginger root ficus or a ficus retusa.

I am also looking for some more advice... if anyone could help me

I took off a woody part of the branch of my bonsai because it had gotten too big and repotted it into another pot. This is what it looks like and I was wondering what I should do with it now...?
it's about 1 year old.
