I think it would be a good idea to make a list of some good online bonsai retailers. also with a mini-review of your experience with them and general satisfaction. since I am considering on getting some wiring material, to save on shipping it would probably be a good idea to get a few other stuff at the same time. I think this might be helpful for all of us
what are some good online bonsai retailers you know?
Good questionPetra26 wrote: what are some good online bonsai retailers you know?
You mean tools, Soil and sundries and such right Petra? As opposed to trees I mean.
Some sell one and not the other...Or not much of the other at any rate.
Some places I would never buy a tree from [junk] but I might buy wire...you know.
Just looking for what you want here

IMO,
One thing I would HIGHLY recommend when shopping for bonsai 'Stuff' is that you take a long hard look at the "trees" they sell.
[If they in fact do sell trees at all. I say that because two of the very reputable dealers I am about to suggest do not in fact sell trees online. One essentially does not sell trees at all in fact.]
About the trees: If they look like little skinny undeveloped malsai at crazy prices...
[IE: 39$, 49$, even 79$ for those entirely undeveloped/untrained '7' shaped junipers that have pencil thin trunks {Essentially they are cuttings and you could purchase better for 6$ in a 1G pot from a box store.}.. Other examples abound.]
...That should give you an idea of the market share they serve and perhaps an idea of the quality [relevant to the prices] of the other materials they sell.
I am confident you are going to see places like that in this thread: {EDIT: When I posted this I assumed there would be additional links posted, None yet though..}
I am not saying "Do not go there under any circumstances."..I AM saying "Be aware of the 'quality aspect' of where you shop."
...Or at least their return policy .
It is also worth mentioning that many of the tools used for bonsai can be easily substituted with more common and le$$ ex$pen$ive household/toolbox items. Concave cutters being the obvious exception.
Here are a few reputable online bonsai dealers:
https://www.evergreengardenworks.com/index.htm Plants and tools: Brent knows his stuff, Period.
In case you don't recognize it, I'd wager that this is one of the top three sites linked to on this forum.
https://www.dallasbonsai.com/ I bought my soil sieves & watering can here as well as wire [When I last bought it.] I love DBG.
https://www.bonsaimonk.com/ How wrong can you go with monks..
https://www.hollowcreekbonsai.com/ I got my Mycorrhiza here, HBC is excellent. Though I am not to sure about their tropical soil lately [That's not first hand experience..I have never used their soil.]
https://www.stonelantern.com/ Books, Magazines, Tools & lots of Japanese paraphernalia
https://www.thegrowinggrounds.com/ Drop some cash on a big canvas for you to work with at TGG.
https://brusselsbonsai.com/ Kind of a mixed bag here IMO, Some very malsai-esque things at the lower prices. Some better examples further up the price range. LOL- That's hardly atypical actually.
I wish I had my lap top nearby as I have a ton of links about this stuff...I do not though..
Hope these are a good start Petra .
